Songs of Marriage

We tied white satin bows on the backs of one hundred chairs and the guys rigged scaffolds to hang the tulle. The place was set for an evening for the knot-tiers and better halves and life partners of our church. The stories behind the marriages of those who squeezed around rose-red clothed tables went mostly unspoken. But those committed relationships were honoured as Matthew and Sarah sang love songs that echoed the beating of the married hearts in the room. The young couple shared their sweet and difficult testimony and serenaded us with lyrics that were written of their love but ones with which my husband and I keenly identified.

It was the words of the songs of marriage that stirred in me a desire to thank my Lord for the gift that my marriage has become and as we nodded in agreement to their beautiful voices, we clasped hands and counted another year of watching God write more music in us and through us.

New Year's Eve and Some Luge Love

He carved out our annual backyard luge run and sent a river of water down knowing the temperature would drop over the following days. The kids were beyond excited for how the twists and turns would feel this year. On New Year's Eve day, they ran that thing again and again, screaming all the way. My husband had some tweaking to do by packing walls a little higher here and there. He based it on whether or not a kid banged into a tree. Oops, better build up that side, my little guinea pigs :)

Then evening came with all it's brilliance as the sun set.
We were asked to pick up the Martins from the airport,
who were the musicians for our New Year's Eve service concert.
Getting to know them a little was lovely.

We were even offered a place to stay on our drive to Florida :)
But then, after the service... Daddy said everyone could
take a few turns on the luge run at NIGHT!!
Boy, oh boy! Talk about taking it up to the next level!
Happy New Year to you and your family.
May you find peace and joy in Jesus in 2014.
Love, a tired Terry and Heather

Secret Keeper Girls

Little girls have a lot going on in their minds and hearts and the Secret Keeper Girls organization ministers to these tiny souls. My cousin Lisa and I took our girls to the show and we had just as much fun as they did. From a modesty fashion show to singing to beach balls and streamers falling from the ceiling to a concert by One Girl Nation, our daughters learned how God adores them! (Click on the link to hear our favourite song about having no regrets and living for Jesus while you're young!)\ You can see what it's all about here. Perhaps they're coming to your home town?
