Goodbye, Sweet Girl

Tiny Everleigh went to be with Jesus today. The injuries from the accident were too much for her little body to sustain. Her young momma remains on Earth but is also in the arms of Jesus because He promises to never leave her. Please lift up our family for comfort and peace in the days ahead.

The Work Of His Fingers

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
the moon and the stars which You have ordained,
what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?
 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,

and You have crowned him with glory and honour.
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
all sheep and oxen--even the beasts of the field,

 the birds of the air,

and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:3-9

Baby Of The Family

Girlie-May is what her Daddy adoringly calls her. After those rambunctious twin boys, he's melting more than ever. My sister, Holly, gathers wet clothes, cuts cucumber slices and rocks a whimpering Clara after a tumble. She has this routine down to a science with her little ones and it's inspiring to watch. But this tiny person God gifted to our family... this soft and smiley baby is the one my kiddos are all chattering about as we drive to their home almost an hour away. They stake their claim on who gets to hold her first. They take photos with their iPods and post videos of just them and Clara. She's a small package tied with a pink ribbon after five years without more cousins on my side of the family. She's welcomed with enthusiastic love.

In Quietness and Trust...

"This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
'In repentance and rest is your salvation,
    in quietness and trust is your strength,
    but you would have none of it.'...
Therefore the Lord awaits to be gracious to you,
and therefore He exalts Himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for Him."
(Isaiah 30:15, 18)

As we are to compare ourselves to Israel, God's chosen people, we can know that this promise is for us too. I don't ever want Him to say that I would have none of it. And so, we ventured once again to Kingfisher Bay for some of that quiet time (since sometimes home isn't so silent :) and discovered trust really is strength.
I grappled with a lot that weekend. My mouth is not always my best feature. Have you ever been caught in words that hurt another person? Sometimes, what I want to say and what actually comes out are two very different things. Oh how ugly I felt every time I walked by a mirror! I'm so thankful that after an intense moment of accountability, my lovely friend forgave me. The Lord disciplines those He loves and, my goodness, He must love me a lot! I'm grateful He doesn't let me get away with too much before it's exposed. Where would I be if it were any different? I shudder at the thought. Most importantly, I walk without shame because I've repented and I'm covered by His blood. Praise God.
