Dessert For Last

We go there for dessert. When all the math and reading and other work is done, we head to the woods to feed the birds and marvel at new species we find. It's our reward.
I kid you not, Meg counted 80 "hits" from chickadees, nuthatches and a red-wing blackbird on her hand for seeds. They just kept coming and coming!
Somehow the woods makes the squirrels (which are pesky in our yard) seem so much more interesting. Everyone crouches to entice one.
Julie, our "adopted" daughter since September, experiences her first chickadee landings.

Those kiddos of mine clamor into the truck after puffing up the final hilly stretch of the woods, chattering on about what they've seen. It's been a good couple of days saving our dessert for last.

Manhood Practice

He runs the capped razor over his smooth, six year-old skin while my scruffy husband buzzes his much thicker manhood. The elder, then slices the remaining stubble till those jaws feel like butter again. Our boy, who's watched every move for a long time now, keeps the shaving rhythm like he's been endowed with a real face-full.

My boys shaved together tonight. It was a milestone that, although celebrated early, was partaken with vigour!

Removing A Tooth... The Old Fashioned Way

I came home to a very excited boy and this video Meghan had made. Seems while I was gone, the two of them had figured out this whole tooth removal thing on their own :)

Back In The Swing Of Spring

The trail had been calling to us but it wasn't until this week that we packed up our nature journals to record the beauty God would show us. Still a little nippy, we slipped into jackets, unsure if we'd need gloves. One hour of racing up and down hills, stopping only to shout back to me that they'd spotted a song sparrow or vulture, and we were hooked once again. We're back in the swing of Spring, even if the temperature doesn't always cooperate.

In Search Of Easter

They search for eggs hidden by their big cousin Jake.
An hour earlier, we had searched our hearts in receiving the Lord's supper.
My husband read the Passion Week and Resurrection story each night at dinner and completed it with all the cousins gathered around.
Oh, what a sweet blessing to hang out with families who believe!
Oliver asked if today was Easter Tuesday, since he had heard us talk of Easter Monday.
I told him as Christians, everyday is Easter, and that we need to search for ways to honour the One who came to give us life.
My prayer is that in the daily grind of life, I would celebrate Easter--the risen Jesus--in my worship, praise, gratitude, and obedience to Him.
How about you?
Are you in search of Easter?
He's waiting and can be found by you!
