The Hope Of The Cross

He willingly hung battered and bruised so that
these precious people...
would one day see Him face to face!

Only their bodies lie here. They are both in heaven with the One who was resurrected. He's coming again and we will all join each other as we finally leave this imperfect world for the place He's prepared for us!

The Last Supper With Children... Holy Week Experiences

We read the story of the Last Supper and I weep, overwhelmed. The children sit silently, watching, listening. Emily is especially in tune with it all and responds, "The Bible is so cool."
We imagine we are the disciples and we partake together
with apple juice (with food colouring) and flat bread.
Little ones are always aware of older ones.

We examine our hearts and ask forgiveness for specific things.

We are in preparation for the garden where we will
undoubtedly experience deep sadness for Jesus' suffering.
But we must experience this in order to know the magnitude
of what He has done for us.

Bee Keeper

She carefully selects a dandelion.

She is not afraid of the bees.
She works hard to attract them.
She studies how they fly and land.

She has made new friends today.

Sweet Lessons

The sweet, clear sap drips slowly and the children run from pail to pail, comparing the levels in each.

They find moths and sticks and things that shouldn't be there... like Jacob's head.

How did the pioneers do it? How does this stuff become
maple sugar? It's difficult to imagine.

They recognize the cauldrons from the pictures in the books we've been reading.

But HOW does it happen?

This gentleman is kind enough to teach them all about it!

They watch in wonder.

Here it comes!

Mmmmm, it tastes so good!

Don't Call Him Oliver

This is Captain Emily
She sails the "Raspberry Jam Ship".
Sometimes she is a little bossy, but what captain isn't?
This is her right-hand man, Mr. Smee.
We were told to no longer call him, Oliver.
On the look-out for sharks (and Peter Pan, of course).

Working together... with two very big imaginations.

Welcome Robins!

We made Robins' nests today to celebrate Spring.
The best part was that they were edible!
We stirred crushed Shreddies in a mixture of melted butter
and marshmallows and then molded them into nest shapes.
We used Cadbury Mini Eggs for our baby Robins.
We read about them at the preschool level.

Then at the primary level.

Then at the junior level.
Thank You, Lord, for beautiful Robins!

After-Dinner Lessons

Deuteronomy 6:4-8 "4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates."
