Rainforest Day!

Once again, my sister wins the best homeschool mom award. She created a rainforest room with her children, complete with croaking frog sound effects. They worked very hard and the rest of us did a little studying on the side and had the privilege of joining them for a Rainforest Day celebration. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." Genesis 1:25, 26

Our Dramatical Society

The lion roared and leapt toward the audience, the munchkins somersaulted and the narrators kept us abreast of the play. My children swept on and off the stage, projecting their voices, dramatizing their characters well from the classic book by Frank Baum. It was another year of homeschool theatre complete and we were all a little tired, as well as, elated at their performance.Meg: Cowardly Lion, Cyclone
Molly: Rainbow Chorus Narrator
Emily: Auntie Em, Munchkin, Wicked Witch of the West
Oliver: Munchkin, Flying MonkeyThe Rainbow Chorus introduces the play. The Tin Man is found among the apple trees. The king of the forest enters the scene. The flying monkeys take their orders.
In the land of Oz.They capture Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Lion.
Dorothy throws the bucket of water upon her enemy.Emily practiced melting many, many times. Brother thinks it's the best :)
Dorothy misses her ride home.Back in Kansas, Auntie Em awaits Dorothy's arrival. The whole cast.Director, Producer, and Coreographer (and homeschool moms--love these ladies :)

Life Is A Vapour

It's still a mystery what happened during the accident. We've been at the hospital for several hours per day since Friday evening when we were told my mom had flipped her car and hit a pole--on the other side of the road. She has no recollection of it and the police report has not been seen by any of us yet. As a family, we are praising the Lord for the life of an amazing woman who was given more time with us.

When we arrived in the ER, we barely recognized our mom's face and we three sisters broke down. She broke her nose, fractured vertebrae in her neck, burst her L3 and L4 (they are now saying, possibly her ribs). She tore the inside of her arm open from elbow to knuckles and they spent hours in surgery cleaning grass, glass and dirt from it and repairing tendons and nerves. She is stitched in several places. She's in a lot of pain and I'm asking for prayer. I believe the Lord will heal completely and we're thankful there are no life-threatening injuries.

Exodus 15:26b "for I am the Lord who heals you."

The World Is Our Classroom

Who could resist school in the backyard? We revel in it. Somehow with the distractions of birds and blooms, bikes and butterflies, we managed to get more done than we normally do inside. Mmmm, delicious outdoor inspiration, for sure. (photos taken a couple of weeks ago)

Victoria Day Traditions

I think this place is where we laugh the most. Between the kids and the adults, an eruption of that good medicine can take place every few minutes. It's why we kept the family tradition going after it started to dwindle over the years. We love being together, and like a sparkler ignites and suddenly bursts into a thrilling but short period of fun, we come and play as families, loving every minute before we must carry tired ones to bed.
