Girls' Weekend

She sent the "Save-the-Date" invitation many months ago to be sure all ten of her friends and sister could fly and drive the distance (enormous for a couple of them). She had set up a girlfriends' weekend at her cottage that none of us would forget. Tara created an itinerary for dinner in town, spa time, shopping, church with guest, Dan Macaulay leading worship, kayaking, hanging out on the dock, hikes, gift unwrapping (from her to us) and lots of eating and cooking and more eating.

What an unforgettable trip!

Swim!

Oliver comments on her tomato plants, Emily likes her little change room, and Molly always wants to do backward somersaults. They love it in Sarah's pool and they've come a long way in their swimming skills.
Thank you, Sarah for another fun round of swimming lessons. May God bless you as you enter university in the Fall!

Practice Makes Progress

It's our new philosophy, that practice makes progress. Perfection is impossible to strive for and progress is truly what we desire in each stage of learning, no matter what the skill. And so, my boys took to the field for some soccer skills and drills.
My husband was a soccer star in highschool and also as he continued in a competitive church league for many years. I used to tell him I could barely see his legs as he ran; he was so fast!
Our son is getting there... progress is sweet.

He loves to learn and that is his greatest asset.

giggling when he gets a good kick in there :)
sideliners have fun together
Once in awhile, there's a sideline brawl :)
And this kid... she coaches little tykes... all by herself.
Progress happening everywhere.

When Work Becomes Fun

My husband has this knack for making work fun. He loves it and so he instills it in the kiddos.
I'm not sure if he gets more done this way or it makes it longer and more difficult, but he loves to have them work alongside of him.

Thanks, Babe. You take my incessant nagging over daily chores to a whole different level!
They love you so much :)

The Dare

Standing in a cold sprinkler is a dare when it's so hot you could watch butter melt on the deck in a few seconds. Daddy holding kiddos in the water makes it even more fun...well, a little shockingly cold, but, ah, the relief!
