The tables were set in the greenhouse. The guests were waiting anxiously for the bride-to-be to arrive. The problem was, I had to convince her to come with me. I had booked an aesthetics appointment with Rebecca and when I showed up for it, I could plainly see the surprise hadn't been discovered. She looked beautiful, as usual, however, her track pants and unmatching socks were a dead give-away my fashion-ista friend wasn't planning on partying.
I handed her a note from Oliver which asked her to come and see his fort at the nursery. Now, Oliver has a special place in her heart, so after she suggested waiting until after the appointment, I begged her to quickly jump in my van and oblige my boy--not something I would normally do. After hesitating for a minute, she agreed and we chatted as we drove down the street toward her awaiting shower.
As we strolled through the store and into the greenhouse, her family and friends shouted, "Surprise!" and she covered her face in shock and embarrassment! It was a glorious moment, until... she made me take her home again to change into something more presentable! Lol! The attendants hung out for a few minutes until we returned.
A little more prepared to greet her people and have her photo taken :)
A little book for writing Scripture, quotes and advice on marriage.

My right-hand woman in helping set up and take down
Some gifts were a little embarrassing for our smaller guest :)
Reading her list of things she asked God for in a man--for our guessing game.
More embarrassing gifts
Special gift of a prayer blanket for Rebecca and Shawn. Each colour, symbol and amount of stitches all have Biblical meaning.
Photo with her mom
Groom-to-be shows up at the end and kisses his girl, who's wearing a lovely tissue paper and gift bow hat.
His mom had been praying for him to meet his "Rebekah" (Isaac's, from Genesis). When he told his mother he'd met the woman of his dreams and her name was actually Rebecca, they knew she was a sweet surprise from God!
It's been a few weeks now and I think she's forgiven me for shocking her so. Not her cup of tea, so to speak. But if I didn't do it this way, I'm pretty sure she would have convinced us not to celebrate at all. Every bride needs a shower, right? :)
Congratulations, Rebecca and Shawn!
