Finding Joy

We find joy when we give thanks. This is what Ann Voskamp has purported in her writing on her blog and in her book, which is now number 7 on The New York Times Best Sellers List. I met her today after she spoke to a group of homeschool moms and dads near her home town (not far from mine). She epitomizes humility and I am grateful to have heard her speak in person to solidify that notion I had of her. We homeschool parents each left a little more encouraged to be thankful for all of life... for the seemingly small, insignificant, unseen.

Despite both of us having hair in our eyes, I love this photo because it represents how the Lord had begun a new work in me a few years ago, concerning joy, and has promised He'll be "faithful to complete it"! (Philippians 1:6).

Wish I could have been there. The joy in your faces is contagious. The times I long for things to slow down are the times i'm not all that thankful. Even though I know it's true, I keep doing it. Crazy, huh?

Splendid picture.

Love you thoughts on the less than perfect photo...life happens, right!

How cool to meet her and hear her words in her own voice!

I am thinking of that song that goes...because of Him I can face tomorrow. Hallelujah, Heather. Your face just radiates the Joy of the Lord!

Ok, I'm a tad bit jealous! Aren't you special-even posting a picture of her!!! I'm sure it was a blessing and enriching to hear her speak.

Thankful for you.

I agree, she spoke for only an hour but I could have listened to her all day. I found myself wanting to hear her again on Sunday. She was life changing for me.

Ann would find all the accolades difficult. I am a total geek about photos, which is why I asked to have our picture taken, but truthfully, I'm not into "stardom" AT ALL. I just feel like I know her like a friend.
