Our Blood--Fearfully And Wonderfully Made

We've been learning all about our bodies and we're discovering that when God's Word says we are "fearfully and wonderfully made", it's true! There are so many mysteries to uncover in our body systems. Here, my girlfriend, Annie takes my blood to show the children how blood comes from our veins and she goes on to explain the circulatory system. Although, a few of us have experienced our blood being drawn for medical reasons before, they are in awe. This time, it's to understand the complexity of God's greatest creation--us!

(just after she removes the needle, Oliver snuggles my arm and makes sure it didn't hurt too much :)

Annie is a nurse and she has all the cool, big words that we love to hear. "God is awesome," is all I keep thinking.

Annie puts my blood into a centrifuge machine to separate my blood.

Next, she shows us what a portable ECG device looks like and asks for a volunteer...

My big helper :)

He's not too impressed when they have to be pulled from his skin.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:14

seeing these pics brought back memories gone by. My daughter (now 17) was born with STV (Supra Ventricular Tachicardia) and at 6 years started having lots of issues that reguired many visit to A&E
(Accident and Emergency)

She did not like having all those stickers on her (they gave her a rash) or having blood drawn :-( Eventually she had to be medicated and then an catheter ablation ( tubes up the groin into the heart) procedure at age 9 resolved her problems.

We do serve an AMAZING God! Hallelujah!

How incredibly cool Heather!! What a great idea to do all that at home with the kids! You have wonderful ideas for homeschool! :)

Our Austin has had many many probes and ECG's and Ultrasounds and Holter monitors over the years...how blessed we are to live in Canada!!!

Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Camille

The first time I gave blood the little tube was resting on my arm. I was completely surprised at how warm it felt! It was like I could feel the life in it.

What an amazing experience for your kids. I'm sure they just absorbed your attitude about the whole thing. I sort of have a doctor phobia so I'm telling ya, your peace is such a gift!

Oh, and that last picture is simply priceless. I smile every story he comes in.

I've missed reading your blog!! I can't wait to catch up. :)

That's so neat that your kids were able to learn all of this at a young age from a nurse. Such a great homeschool experience!
