Parallel Lives

She was my colleague and we had a special bond from the day we met. We soon discovered that we were living parallel lives, both being teachers, married to men with family businesses, both doing our best to live for the Lord. Then, we became pregnant at the same time. Oh, the excitement of outings and play-dates with those two little ones! Not long after, we each gave birth to number two and then three. We enjoyed a trip to Florida together and we shared summer vacations and barbecues. Both of us scrapbooked and quilted. We read the same books and had many similar struggles.
One warm summer evening, Terry and I shared with Sandee and her husband, Duncan that we were expecting number four and they shared that they were beginning homeschooling. Because of their educational choice, they could not consider having a fourth child. Well, it didn't take long for us to take the plunge in the homeschooling journey and for them to be expecting their fourth. It just seemed inevitable.
So, here we are, the twelve of us (how did we go from four to twelve in ten years?), keeping parallel and spurring one another on to grow. What a joy to watch our children laughing in each other's company as we have always done. I'm so glad we have a great family to share in this adventure!
