Great Mysteries

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Now, we need to discover this amazing world of His! So, we become scientists and search for the treasures that are ours if we diligently seek them. Science is a wonderful vehicle for finding answers to our questions but what can help us find the answers to the deeper questions of life? The questions that permeate our beings, that make us toss and turn at night, the questions that sometimes cause us to doubt? Because science isn't enough, we turn to the Word of God. In it, all the mysteries of life can be explained. But there's a requirement to unlocking the door--humility.
The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). We obtain wisdom, His mysteries, His treasures by an attitude of humility. How do we become humble? By fearing the Lord. It's a unending circle of obedience beginning with an awe and respect that causes us to bow before Him speechless (Proverbs 15:33).

Who among us doesn't want to be wise? Who doesn't want to know the secrets?
What God has revealed in His creation is there for the taking. Much of it can be discovered through science. My kids love to do experiments which, at this point, bear answers that have already been found by others. But how much more do I desire for them to learn something God has whispered just to them? And so I try to demonstrate humility before them in order for this to become automatic for them. Oh, it's very difficult some days. I'm getting the hang of it but that is also something He's whispering to me: Fear Me, My child, and I will show you how to show them.
